I have the utmost respect for entrepreneurs. They are fascinating, driven, fearless and revolutionary in so many ways. During my time in the VC world and as a marketing consultant to the high-tech industry, I had the privileged of meeting and working with many incredible entrepreneurs. All were passionate about their startups and knew exactly what they should pitch to investors, customers and partners. But rarely did they know how to do it.
The Heart of the Matter
I learned that no matter how fantastic the brain behind it all was, it was ultimately the heart that we connected with. It is the heart that pumps life into a business and sustains it. In business, the technological, marketing and sales skills are the brain of the business. The heart that makes it all come alive is soft skills and without these soft skills, the road to success is much harder.

What are Soft Skills and why are they Important
Soft skills are taking those inherent human qualities, such as communication, interaction, creativity, innovation, analytical thinking, problem solving etc. and developing these so you can apply them effectively in the workforce. Entrepreneurs with soft skills can analyze what kind of leadership strategies their team needs to succeed and implement different strategies for each setting.
The benefits of soft skills training include increased ROI and a highly productive working environment. A study from Boston College, Harvard University, and the University of Michigan found that soft skills training delivers a 250 percent return on investment due to boosted productivity and employee retention.

Theater a Compelling Model for Soft Skills Training
One of the most remarkable epiphanies I had during my time in the corporate world was how well my theater training prepared me for the business world. I instinctively understood the correlation between the two worlds. Implementing the training and skills I had gained in theater, such as communication, teamwork, leadership, problem solving, critical thinking, presentation skills, provided me with a huge advantage both as an employee and entrepreneur.

The merging of these two worlds led to the creation of Center Stage’s Theater Skills for Business. We offer active learning workshops on a multitude of topics, including public speaking and basic presentation skills, business “storytelling” to better communicate data to investors, customers, partners and your team, and improv for teambuilding, creative thinking, problem solving, and conflict resolution.

The custom developed workshops, for entrepreneurs as well as organizations large and small, provide you with the tools, techniques and approaches that will significantly impact your ability to work effectively in a team, be proactive and collaborative, communicate efficiently, engage, inspire and persuade, all of which are key soft skills needed for a successful business outcome.
